Spices have healing powers and coupled with the right ingredients, you can concoct a powerful drink to beat the cold.
This drink will get you sweating, your taste buds wide awake, and your body’s immunity roaring.
Here’s what you need:
A big cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I use Silk since it’s free from carrageenan)
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of turmeric
Dash of nutmeg
Dash of cayenne pepper
Freshly ground ginger (i use these nifty little pop-outs by Dorot from Trader Joe’s or the health food store)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 dash of stevia (to taste)
Heat up the almond milk in a saucepan, add all ingredients and then use a whisker to blend them all up. I use a hand-held frother, which blends great)
Drink while it’s hot and feel the heat rising. Raising your body temperature is a good idea when you’re about to come down with the cold or flu. A fever, after all, is your body’s way of fighting an infection. Heat denatures viruses, so a sauna or sweat session plus hot liquids are the best ways to fight off bugs.
