A weird recipe that’s delicious AND good for you: Dark Chocolate Banana Omelet
A few weeks ago I was asked to submit a healthy dark chocolate recipe to the Dr. Oz Show.
You know I’m a fan of clean eating, so to make anything taste good, people usually add sugar, but I came up with a healthy spin on things: Dark Chocolate Banana Omelet. Before you get disgusted, hear me out and then try it out as a weekend breakfast treat or dessert. It actually has 20g of protein and about 20g of carbs with about 12 g of fat, so this is a perfect meal.
You can watch the video of the show here. After we got all dolled up and TV worthy, we introduced our unique recipes to Dr. Oz. Little did us 4 contestants know that our recipes would be judged by the famous Chocolatier Jacques Torres. Little did Jacques know he cost me $6,000 a few ago. Long story short. I got a massive bar of dark chocolate from a friend as a gift and put it in the freezer (the only safe place to prevent myself from eating 5 lbs of chocolate in one night…). I took a bite out of it – still mostly frozen – and promptly cracked one of my molars. A run to the dentist revealed a fractured tooth that needed immediate removal by the surgeon. Once those $6,000 were spent, I chose to go on a low-chocolate diet and it’s been paying off – at least for my dental health! The other incident was when my Dog Remi chose to find the Mexican chocolate I brought back from a trip and eat the entire pound of it. Yeah, you don’t need to know how much that overnight emergency room visit cost. Needless to say, Remi and I have a very ambiguous relationship with chocolate. If it’s not in the house, we both feel more at ease
Anyways, back to the show. The other ladies made dark chocolate recipes with a lot more sugar than mine, so naturally he wasn’t impressed by mine, compared to theirs, but I hope you’ll be impressed when you make it at home, knowing you’ll get your 6-pack happy and your thighs free from directly absorbing the fat!!
All you need is 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon of dark cocoa powder (I love Trader Joe’s), a dash of cinnamon and a small banana.
Here’s the recipe. Let me know how you like it!
